Founded in 2010 by Wayne Cochran, the company started in the garage of his home in Kamloops, BC, Canada. Wayne started by sourcing and selling simple harvester components to loggers that he grew up with from his childhood, then through referrals and hard work, the company grew.
The first part purchased for inventory was a spool of electrical cable. To purchase the part, it required selling Wayne's downhill mountain bike. The word got out about the business from friends and family and soon moved into a small warehouse within six months of operations.
Manufacturing & Rebuilding harvester heads for several years, the team at Axis grew into an international force and now has global reach. Servicing customers who are looking for OEM alternatives, the parts & service business expanded and acquired a Washington, USA location to serve American logging contractors even faster.
Recognizing the need to develop a simplified and easy-to-use measuring system, Cypress Robotics was launched in 2016. Inventing a purpose-built measure system from the ground up, the Cypress team took a modern approach to the forestry industry. Now fully capable of operating many brands of harvesters, clients are updating their aged-out controllers with the Cypress due to the simplicity and stability. It's an opportunity for clients to put life back in their older equipment and get our support.
2019 saw the rise of a new factory in Canada to innovate and manufacture Rebel harvesters and Cypress measuring systems. All development, manufacturing and testing occurs at this location.
2023 was a significant year by launching the Rebel T22HD model. Developed by a dedicated team of engineers, machinists, and mechanics, the harvester was unveiled and on demo by NORS Equipment Volvo dealer. Off we go! We remember a key development team member Shawn Belshaw for his dedication, whom we tragically lost in a car accident.
Celebrating 15 years of business is a major milestone. Wayne and his father, Robert stood beside Rebel serial 15 as it came off the assembly line. The business is getting larger but maintains the family-run energy a logging contractor needs.
Operating in three countries, Axis Forestry is expanding thanks to strong customer demand for our premium line of harvesters and measuring system. We are introducing new products and growing every year!
